1: Do I need a lawyer?
The law states that you have the right to legal counsel. If you retain an attorney, you know your personal rights will be protected. An insurance company may convince you that you do not need a lawyer. However, by the time you discover that your claim cannot be resolved, it may be too late to seek legal help. Most cases settle before there is a need to file a lawsuit. However, a lawsuit may be the only option if an insurance company or a defendant will not negotiate in good faith. If your case cannot be settled, we will discuss alternatives, e.g., taking your case to court.
3: How soon will my case be settled?
We handle each claim on a case-by-case basis. The length of treatment and time of rehabilitation determines the length of time it takes to finalize your claim. We will negotiate your claim with the responsible insurance company or defendant as soon as you and your doctor allow us to proceed. Please note that in some cases, such as those involving burn injuries, spinal cord injuries and brain injuries, medical treatment might require considerable time.
4: What shall I do if I have to take time off work?
Take time off work only if your doctor states in writing that you should not work. When your doctor signs a "no-work" order you may be entitled to claim your lost wages.
