What is Trasylol®?
Trasylol® is a drug that controls bleeding and it is used during heart surgery and hip replacement surgery. It is admitted that that drug was used in about a third of these medical operations in the US since its launch in 1998.
Early 2006 studies showed a causal connection between the use of Trasylol® and cases of serious kidney failure, congestive heart failure, strokes and death. The FDA issued a warning in September 2006 and the label of the drug was added with a black box for high risk of kidney failure and death. The drug was removed in 2007 and many think that it is because the manufacturer has just denied the dangerous side effects of Trasylol®. Our investigation is on going.
